What is Manglik Dosha?
Manglik (Mangal) Dosha occurs when Mars sits in certain houses, and is chiefly considered in marriage matching.
Manglik Dosha, also called Mangal or Kuja Dosha, is present when Mars occupies the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house — measured from the Lagna (and in some traditions from the Moon or Venus).
Why it matters
It is primarily assessed for marriage compatibility. Classical texts also list several cancellations (exceptions), such as Mars in its own or exalted sign, so a dosha is not automatically a problem.
